Drains FAQs
Who is responsible for my blocked drain?
Generally, pipes serving only your property inside your boundary are your responsibility. Shared sewers and lateral drains outside your boundary usually belong to the water company — Thames Water across most of London. We can tell you which applies when we inspect. More in our guide to drain responsibility.
Will you need to dig?
Rarely. Most blockages clear with rods or jetting, and many defects can be repaired from inside the pipe using patch lining. We only excavate when there is no sensible alternative.
Can you send a CCTV report for my insurer?
Yes. We can provide survey footage and a written report you can pass to your insurer, landlord or managing agent.
